Retirement Visa

Rami Formality Services is now authorized to process retirement visas previously handled by a few selected travel agencies.

For more than 10 years now, Rami Services has been appointed by the Tourism Department and the Directorate General of Immigration to sponsor and process retirement visas in warm and sunny Indonesia.

cost of living index in Jakarta (90) is well below that of Tokyo (150), Sydney (110), Singapore (108) and New

York (100).

Effective 31 August 2006, there are changes in the Ministry of Justice Law # M.04-IZ.01.02 year 1998 that foreigners from the following countries may apply for an Indonesian retirement visa are:

South Africa, USA, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Holland, Brazilian, Brunei Darussalam,Bulgaria, Cyprus, Denmark, United Arab Emirates, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, India, UK, Ireland, Iran, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Germany, Canada, South Korea, Kuwait, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Maldives, Malaysia, Malta, Egypt, Monaco, Norway, Oman, France, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Suriname, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand and Greece.

Evidently, retirees will not be allowed to conduct any type of business while holding a retirement visa. In order to do business, the retiree must ask for a suspension and apply for a different type of visa and whatever permits necessary to change his residency status.

The retirement visas requirements are:

  • Must be at least 55 years old

  • Copy of all passport pages

  • The passport should be valid for at least 18 months from the date of application

  • Soft Photograph in PDF file - 6x4 cm red background photos

  • Photograph - 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm = 1 ea with white background

  • Curriculum Vitae

  • A color scan of marriage certificate if married

  • A color scan of a savings account statement from your bank (if any)

  • A color scan of health & life insurance policy

  • A color scan of third party liability insurance policy

  • A statement of intent to employ Indonesian maids and/or driver during his/her retirement in Indonesia

  • A statement letter from the pension plan institution or bank that the pension  income is US$1500/month or more

  • A statement letter of financial ability to rent an accommodation at minimum  US$500 per month in Jakarta areas, or minimum US$300 per month outside Jakarta areas or own a house under his wife´s name if she is Indonesian

A retirement Visa can be extended five times without having to leave the country. Each extension is valid for one year.

A retirement Visa holder will receive complete permits in a well organized folder comprising the following documents - valid for 1 year:

  • A retirement visa telex approval in the case of a new E-ITAS   

  • A retirement E-ITAS & MERP

  • SKTT / Green card

  • STM/Resort police report
